Why is it called the “Last Chance!” Golf Outing?
Every year, we host our Golf Outing in September when golf season is winding down. Our event is your “last chance!” to get in a game before the end of the season!

Where is the “Last Chance!” Golf Outing located?
We are proud to partner with the University of Michigan Golf Course to offer a full day of exclusive access to the private premier course.
What is included in the ticket price?
- All day unlimited FREE cocktails, including our Pure Michigan Bloody Mary Bar
- Breakfast, gourmet grill lunch, and afternoon pizza party
- Awards for top golfers
- 18 holes with cart
- Gift bag with new items each year (past items included Dry Fit polo shirts, Drizzle Sticks, Titleist golf sleeve, golf accessories, and more!)
- A small donation ($30 per golfer) is included in each ticket price
- A chance to support the children and families of Michigan while having fun!
So this is a fundraiser. How much money does it raise?
We typically raise about $25,000 at the “Last Chance!” Golf Outing.
That’s a chunk of change! How do you spend that?
We use the money raised at the “Last Chance!” Golf Outing to provide meals and activities to neighborhood residents at the John S. Vitale Community Center and Soup Kitchen. It is located on the east side of Detroit, in one of the most impoverished zip codes in the city. We opened the doors in 1991 and have since continued our commitment to support Detroit, “the comeback city,” through thick and thin.
This all sounds great, but I can’t attend. (OR: I’m not a golfer!) How else can I get involved?

Become a sponsor! We offer sponsorship opportunities of many shapes and sizes! You can sponsor a hole on the golf course, a portion of the event, or even the event itself. Please reach out to developmentdept@wolverinehs.org to learn more about our sponsorship opportunities.
Donate to the cause. This event is all about raising funds for the children and families of Michigan. Why not donate directly to them? We are one of a very small number of nonprofits who can guarantee that 100% of your donation will be given directly to the children. (We don’t take administrative fees from your donation!)
What other fundraising events do you do?
Each spring, we host our Annual Awards Banquet, when we gather together to honor the children and families who have made impressive strides in their journey with us, as well as the community supporters who carried Wolverine to meet the milestones of each new year.
Additionally, we always have fundraising events happening—from the Piggy Bank Project to our online events like Giving Tuesday and Rise Detroit, we keep busy searching for new resources for our children and families.
