Foster Care Services

Wolverine Human Services provides foster care services to children and their families that have been referred by the Michigan Department of Human Services and or are involved with Michigan's child welfare system. Although we believe that the family is the best place for children there are some situations that require intervention services. Family foster care is designed to provide temporary placements for children when their parents cannot care for them.

Our Foster Care program has trained and nurturing foster parents and employees available to offer a child a safe and stable place to live while an entire treatment team works closely with the child and family to assist them towards problem resolution and when possible the safe return of the child to their family. If return home is not possible, alternative permanent plans such as placement with kinship care providers or adoption must be pursued.

Foster Parenting

Every day foster families in Michigan make an incredible difference by providing safe and caring homes for children living in foster care. There is an ongoing need for foster parents, especially those who can care for sibling groups, teenagers and children with disabilities.

Fostering abused and neglected children is hard work and challenging. Wolverine Human Services' top priority is to help you prepare for this important job. You might wonder why so much is asked of you during this process. It's because Wolverine Human Services wants to ensure that foster children will be safe and well cared for in their new, temporary homes.

Our goal is to:

• Prepare you for fostering and support you as a foster family
• Provide parents, relatives, children, kinship care providers and foster parent's assistance and support throughout the fostering process
• Insure that the child's best interests are being met
• Support a safe and timely permanency plan
