Part-Time Kitchen Staff

The Mission of the Cook is “Helping Children to be Victors.”  The Cook shall be accountable to the Vocational Counselor – Culinary Arts and the Residential Care Coordinator/ Operation Care Coordinator.  The Cook is responsible to prepare nutritious balanced meals for residents and staff members.  Cooks will supervise youth in conjunction with the food service work study program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  2. Possess mature judgment, self-discipline, honesty and good work ethics.
  3. Must be positive role model for youth in placement.
  4. Physical health must be adequate for performance of work.
  5. Must be able to take orders and execute them in a timely manner.
  6. Must be able to pass an annual physical as required.

**Ability to Work with a Diverse and Multi-cultural Client and Staff Population.

USUAL TIME INVOLVEMENT:

Part time schedule.  Shift times will be scheduled by the Vocational Counselor – Culinary Arts

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To prepare nutritious balanced meals for the residents and staff members.
  2. Supervise youth in conjunction with the Food Service work study program.
  3. Ability to have visual control of a group of youth as well as the ability to respond immediately and to visually observe behavior.
  4. Ability to successfully complete a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention seminar provided by the agency.
  5. Must be emotionally stable and of good moral character.
  6. Must complete production records daily for all meals (breakfast and lunch).
  7. Ability to follow standard recipes.
  8. Ability to complete daily, weekly, monthly cleaning lists, and knife accountability sheets.
  9. Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  10. All other duties assigned by the Vocational Counselor – Culinary Arts/RCC/OCC.
