WCARE-I is a residential chemical dependency treatment program for adolescent men and women, operated by Wolverine Human Services in collaboration with Growth Works. WCARE-I serves young men and women that are referred by Wayne County's juvenile justice system, various State of Michigan Substance Abuse Coordinating Agencies, juvenile courts and the Michigan Department of Human Services. The program provides an intensive 90 day addiction treatment program, augmented by Wolverine's educational, vocational and outdoor experiential educational programs. The program is non-secure and rests on the Wolverine/Vassar campus of over 125 acres.
Clients engage in intensive interventions related to substance abuse/dependence and mental health recovery. Daily recovery oriented group and individual counseling lasts approximately 3-5 hours. Clients engage in a rigorous therapeutic schedule, including family intervention, family psycho-education, wilderness treks, supervised family visitation and counseling services and 12 step work.

WCARE-I services are geared to assist young men in ending their use of mood altering drugs and to develop a commitment to recovery. We assist participants in resolving personal matters attributable to their drug use. The program emphasizes self-help, education, individual counseling and group meetings consistent with the 12-Step Program. Most importantly, we assist people in discovering and using their abilities to become successful.
