Detroit, MI 48215 P: (313) 822-2070 F: (313) 822-2664Wolverine Human Services WSRP provides long-term treatment services to male adolescents, ages twelve through seventeen, who present as cognitively low functioning and have a history of sexually reactive behavior or sexual acting out. All clients are referred through the Michigan Department of Human Services. Examples of sexually reactive behavior include: inappropriate touching in a sexual way that is not age appropriate, excessive interest in sexual behaviors after receiving adult redirection and inappropriate sexual knowledge for age and boundary issues. Clients fit the criteria of cognitively low functioning if their IQ levels present below 79. Many of these clients may have special education categorizations including Cognitively Impaired and a combination of other categorizations, Emotionally Impaired, Learning Disabled and Otherwise Health Impaired. Program Activities and Services Group, Individual and Family Counseling In addition to being cognitively low functioning and described as sexually reactive, these clients have generally also exhibited additional maladaptive behaviors in school settings and home settings. The maladaptive behaviors are considered severe enough to warrant a residential treatment program instead of an out-patient response to the symptoms. After completion of the program, WHS staff assist the referring worker in the aftercare living arrangement for the client. |
