Today, we’re excited to introduce you to Camille, who is working with our Neighborhood Development initiative out of the John S. Vitale Community Center in Detroit!

Intern CamilleName: Camille H. Anoll

Which WHS Program you work in: Neighborhood Development (John S. Vitale Community Center)

Level of Education: Master Student

Area of Study: Social Work and Public Health

University or College: University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

Hometown: Montclair, VA

Fun fact about you: Growing up, I was both a competitive acrobat and a competitive fencer.

Why did you choose your area of study?

I have always had an intense social justice focus. Health inequity is rampant in the US and is a multifaceted problem. Not only is it a contributing factor to other areas of inequity but the system also creates a continuous feedback loop of inequity.

What do you find most interesting about your internship at Wolverine Human Services?

I am excited to learn how to do pretty pure community organization while working alongside Greg Hoffman, Community Coordinator, at the Vitale Community Center. I am also excited to assist implementing the therapy garden with the young men at the Wolverine Center.

What inspiration do you draw from the youth and/or staff at Wolverine Human Services?

I like that the individuals working at WHS are really dreaming big and looking at how the big picture affects what programming they need to implement.

What else should we know about you?

I have 4 years of professional experience before going back to school and I am a dual Masters in Public Health and Masters in Social Work student. I have a lot of unique skills that I hope will be utilized by the organization.
