Founder of Wolverine Human Services (1953–2025)
We are saddened to share the passing of Robert E. Wollack, founder of Wolverine Human Services and a lifelong advocate for youth and families in need.
Since its founding in 1987, Wolverine Human Services (WHS) has grown into Michigan’s largest private provider of residential services for youth, serving all 83 counties with a comprehensive care network. The organization began with a single program, St. Jude’s Home for Boys, and steadily expanded to include treatment facilities, educational centers, foster care and adoption services, and community-based programs.
WHS remains committed to its mission of helping children and families be victors. That commitment is seen daily in the organization’s delivery of trauma-informed care, therapeutic services, workforce development opportunities for youth, and helping children achieve permanency in stable and nurturing family environments.
Robert’s vision laid the foundation for this vital work, and under the leadership of those who continue his legacy, WHS will move forward with the same purpose—to help children overcome adversity and create brighter futures.
We extend our sincere condolences to all who knew and worked alongside Robert. His belief in the potential of every child continues to inspire the mission of Wolverine Human Services today and into the future.
