Tuscola Intermediate School District teacher Shelly Atwood and school social worker Kathy Mroz applied for and received a grant from the Mid Michigan Chapter of A 100 Woman Who Care.

This grant is for $10,500. The money will be used for our life skills apartment on Camp 1. We will be purchasing a new washer, dryer, refrigerator and stove. The 2nd part of the project is for every student who has successfully completed all their resumes and mock interviews will leave and be ready for School to Work opportunities with a new dress shirt, dress pants and a tie, to aid them in their interviews in their community.

Upon touring our school, a student named Jacob Z offered some genuine feedback. He stated, “Thank you for helping this school. I have been to 17 different placements, and this is 1 of 2 out of the 17 placements that care about us.” Other students chimed in “absolutely” and agreed with Jacob Z when he said this, and it made us feel proud of fostering a safe environment. Those comments say a lot about the staff from Wolverine Human Services, Vassar Public Schools and the Tuscola Intermediate School District. Great job Shelly and Kathy!!!!
