Wolverine is an agency full of out-of-the-box thinkers and staff who are not afraid to take on a challenge or roll up their sleeves and do the hard work. This was again made apparent these last few weeks when our HR teams put together a series of drive-thru interviews in order to hire more much needed staff. All three of our residential sites hosted a drive-thru interview, with HR at the helm of steering applicants through a maze of activities to ensure health precautions were followed and “face-to-face” interviews were able to once again take place. Since late March of this year, all hiring started to move into the digital space. We hosted interviews on Zoom and sent paperwork from Salesforce for completion. Covid-19 has made the tasks of Human Resources that much more difficult to navigate. While the internet and software have a role to play in making our company more efficient, our people and those we want to hire, live for human interactions. We needed to find a way to safely do this again. We needed to find a way to reconnect with our kind of people and drive-thru interviews made this possible.
When something outside of our control causes a disruption to our workflow, we have to be able to roll with the punches and keep moving forward and that is exactly what Wolverine’s HR team is endeavoring to do! Drive-thru open interviews may become a bi-weekly event at Wolverine, giving HR the opportunity to extend same day job offers and keep the personal touch in this human centric agency. As we move into a future that is uncertain, we are confident in our agencies ability to keep hiring the best employees for our children in care and overcome any new obstacles thrown our way!
