The Holiday season is upon us. At Wolverine Human Services, it is the most magical time of the year! WHS provides gifts for over 400 children and youth in our care. While we are aware that not everyone celebrates Christmas, this celebration is a lesson in kindness, generosity, joy, happiness, and another reason to be grateful and thankful.
December 1st is Giving Tuesday. This year, Wolverine Human Services asks for your support as we raise funds to purchase holiday gifts and cold weather gear needed for the months ahead.
What is Giving Tuesday?
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world; a day that encourages people to do good. Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to give. Giving Tuesday is Tuesday Dec 1st. Follow Wolverine Human Services on Facebook and Instagram for the next 7 days as we count down all the ways your donations help children in our care.
Christmas for kids in our care begins as early as July, that is when children are asked to begin making their wish lists. Some of these children have never celebrated the holidays, never received a gift and have never received anything new in their lives. Their lists have everything on them from clothes to shoes, books, electronics, personal hygiene items, makeup, houseware items and so much more.
There is no limit to what children in our care need as they aren’t just planning for right now, but they are also looking ahead to what they will need in the future. Watching these children open up the gifts is so magical and wonderful. You can see the delight as each child feels the love and generosity of others with each gift that is unwrapped!
