In the last few months as COVID took over, life as we know it changed. Globally, everyone has been impacted. Keeping the children in our care safe and healthy has always been our number one priority and now we were faced with new challenges.
As the Philanthropy Coordinator for WHS, I had to quickly adjust my focus as our needs drastically changed. With over 500 kids in our care, we were in desperate need of PPE and supplies were limited. We were also looking for ways to support our Foster Care families AND keep the youth in our care engaged and learning.
We would like to sincerely thank the following for the in-kind donations:
Absopure, Concordia University, Plymouth Technologies, Kroger, Growth Works, Novastar, McClaren Caro Hospital, Ripclear, TV Online, Vassar Schools, Frankenmuth Methodist Church, Sebawing Ladies/Area Sewers, Angels Above Baby Gowns, Detroit Health Department, Operation Face Shield, and Angels Wear Gowns.
We also participated in Giving Tuesday Now which was an online fundraiser for COVID relief. With the help from high profile individuals and celebrities giving away amazing experiences, WHS was able to receive funding for our Emergency Family Fund. This fund was used to help our Care Provider families with groceries and/or medical bills.
To further support our programs, we set up an Amazon Wish List that includes books, puzzles, games, art supplies and more. People are able to go to the WHS Amazon Wish List to purchase select items. Items purchased are sent directly to WHS for children in our care. For additional support, Wolverine Human Services can be selected as your charity of choice on smile.amazon.com which allows proceeds from any participating amazon order to directly support WHS.
